Bernard Shankle
Retired Master Chief Bernard Shankle, 82, passed away peacefully at home February 26, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his wife, Olga, and sons Jeffery and Terrance. He is survived by his son Bruce; daughter Janell; and grandson Matthew.
He proudly served in the Navy from 1946 to 1976 and worked for the City of Virginia Beach Landscape Services division from 1977 until 1996. He especially enjoyed playing golf and working in his yard. His ashes will be scattered at sea at a later date.
