Eugene Moody "Gene" Herrin, 84, of Norwood passed away early Thursday morning, January 10, 2013 at Harris Hospice, Presbyterian Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood. Rev. Adam Hatley and Rev. Don Burleyson will officiate and burial will follow in Norview Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Herrin was born January 28, 1928 in Stanly County to the late Dewey Alexander and Geraldine "Gerri" Moody Herrin. He was a retiree of Cory Knit Wear and Stanly County Schools. He was a lifelong member of West Albemarle Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Juanita Arey and Dolletta Burleyson and brother, Merrill Herrin.
He is survived by his wife, Claudine Austin Herrin of the home; son, Tony Eugene Herrin and wife, Carlene of Monroe; sister, Luciene Whitley and husband, Tommy of Locust; two grandsons, Josh Herrin and wife, Mandy of Monroe and Jacob Herrin and fiancee Dyan of Charlotte; two great-grandchildren, A. J. Herrin and Alex Herrin.
