Monday, November 26, 2012 — Dorothy “Dot” Lee Lambert Furr, 87, of Woodhurst Road in New London, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.

The family received friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m.

The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Bob Cauble, was held at Friendship United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

At other times, the family met at her home.

Mrs. Furr was born on October 12, 1925 to the late Franklin Lambert and the late Dora Lee Howell Lambert. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Bobby Felix Furr in 2001; two sisters, Edna Ruth Lambert who passed away as an infant, Nellie L. Carroway Boyette; brother, Eugene Lambert.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Betty Furr Estridge of Mt. Gilead; two sons, Jimmy W. Furr and wife, Kathy of Albemarle, and Jerry F. Furr and wife, Monica of Statesville; six grandchildren, David and wife, Trish Lowder of Albemarle, Amy Lowder of Charlotte, Tammy Furr Vaughn and husband, Tim of Boiling Springs, S.C., Jody Furr of Badin, Brian Furr of Charlotte; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred Lambert from Princeton, Frank Lambert and wife, Cricket of Smithfield; and sisters, Christine Herring and husband, Steve of Goldsboro, and Joyce Sasser of Wilmington; six nieces; and three nephews.

Mrs. Furr was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church since 1962, and was a graduate of Princeton High School and Geyer Business College.

Her first employment was with Glamour Shops of New York City which lasted for 23 years. She managed stores for the company in North and South Carolina. Mrs. Furr managed the Glamour shop in Albemarle for 17 years. Mrs. Furr and her husband owned and operated New London Alternator and Starter Services for 25 years.

Memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, NC Hwy 73, Albemarle.
