Sunday, September 28, 2008 — Shelby Jean Clodfelter Hatley, 70, of 48813 Clodfelter Road, Albemarle, died at 6:25 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, in Lutheran Home of Albemarle. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Joe Helms will officiate and burial will be in Stony Hill United Methodist Church in Albemarle. Born July 19, 1938, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Clodfelter and Pantha Coley Clodfelter. She was a graduate of Badin High School. A homemaker, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and also had a wonderful uplifting spirit and enjoyed reading. She was of the Baptist faith. She was married to the late Dolan Edward Hatley. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Otis Clodfelter, Lloyd Clodfelter and Dink Clodfelter; and a sister, Laura Belle Mills. She is survived by two sons, Edward “Daryl” Hatley and wife, Angie, of Shelby and Kenneth Edward “Tinker” Hatley and wife, Donna, of Albemarle; three sisters, Edith Mills and Virginia Moss, both of Albemarle; and R.V. Whitley of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, “Eddie” Hatley, Jr., Wesley Hatley, Kristen Hatley, Daniel Hatley, Kirk Hatley and Amanda Hatley.
