Sunday, December 17, 2006 — Arthur Lee Hatley, 90, of 37345 Barnhardt Road, Albemarle, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at his home.
His funeral was at 3 p.m. Saturday in Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where he was a member.
The Rev. Daniel Wilson officiated and burial was in Fairview Memorial Park.
Born Sept. 30, 1916, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Luther D. and Mary Morris Hatley and was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having received two Purple Hearts.
His wife, Olee Scott Hatley, preceded him in death Feb. 18, 2004. A daughter, Carolyn H. Winfree, preceded him in death in 2001. A brother, J.C. Hatley, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry L. Hatley and wife, Joyce, of Albemarle, and Roger L. Hatley and wife, Brenda, of Marshville; a brother, Hubert Hatley of Austin, Texas; a sister, Betty St. Clair of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Loretta Erdman, Donna and Paul Harwood, Chad and Natalie Winfree, Annette and Lynn Howell, Terri and Chris Moon and Pam and Chuck Stahl; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Albemarle, NC; or Hospice of Stanly County.
Stanly Funeral Home was in charge.
