BALTIMORE, Md. - Richard Edward "Ed" Shaver, 65, of Baltimore, has taken his last trip to be with his saving Lord on Nov. 2, 2012.
Ed was born July 3, 1947, in Portsmouth, Va.. to Ellen Frances Shaver of Kannapolis and the late Herman Linker Shaver. He was a graduate of Norview High School and Old Dominion University in Virginia.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, where he was a med tech. For 34 years he worked for the VA Medical Center in Baltimore as a psychiatric nurse.
Ed traveled the world widely and made many visits to see his mother in Kannapolis.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, Herman Francis "Frank" Shaver of Sacramento, Calif.
Service: Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at St. James Catholic Church Cemetery, Gold Hill Road, Concord, conducted by Rev. Father Joseph Dionne, C.S.S.R.
Visitation: Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of a cousin, Kimberly Crosby, 1355 Red Birch Road, Kannapolis.
Memorials: The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC.
