Janie Wetmore Bowers

Janie Wetmore Bowers, 70, of Woodleaf passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born October 25, 1946 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Clarence “Hebe” Wetmore and Leitha Peeler Wetmore.

She was educated in the Woodleaf schools and graduated from West Rowan High School.

Mrs. Bowers was employed with Fiber Industries/Kosa for 37 years before retiring.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Growing in Grace Sunday School Class, Calvary Senior Citizens and was a former choir member. She enjoyed going to yard sales, crafts, working in her flowers and spoiling her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Bowers on December 9, 2009, a daughter, Stephanie Lee Bowers on August 11, 1974 and a sister, Mary Ann Means on December 7, 1974.

Those left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Carla B. Linker of Woodleaf, step-daughter, SeLana B. Lipe and husband Randy of Salisbury; sisters, Jean Dameron and husband Ralph of Woodleaf, Carolyn Ebright and husband Art of Glade Valley, Lynn Shumaker and husband Alex of Woodleaf; brother, Sam Wetmore and wife Becky of Woodleaf; granddaughter, Hailey Linker of Woodleaf; numerous step-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Jim Bowers of Faith and Ken Bowers of Davidson County; sister-in-law, Barbara Fox of Faith and several loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday (Feb. 16) at the Summersett Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM – Friday (Feb. 17) at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Rick Cockerham and Rev. Bobby Seagroves, officiating. Mrs. Bowers will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, Salisbury, or Shelter Guardians, Salisbury.
