Notes for Sarah Whitley
Sarah Lefler

Sunday, December 18, 2011 — Sarah Whitley Lefler, aged 84, died December 15, 2011.

She was born on October 24, 1927, the daughter of Howard and Hattie Whitley of Richfield in Stanly County.

She was a longtime, faithful member of Providence United Methodist Church and an active member of the Christian Home Sunday School Class.

She was a devout Christian and her life personified her faith.  Sarah was a retired second grade teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. She enjoyed her career and took a great interest in her students. She always said her classroom was a “magic” room that changed everyone who entered it. Sarah avidly pursued everything she ever did in life.

During retirement, she enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and became a Gold Life Master. She spent many enjoyable hours with her friends at the Charlotte Bridge Association.

Sarah was completely devoted to her family. She was the most loving, caring, giving, and supportive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that anyone could ever have.

Sarah is survived by a son, Steve Lefler (Norma), of Charlotte, a daughter, Karen Sadler (Eric) of Wilmington;  and grandchildren, Jenna Davis (Tommy), Chris Haynes, Staci Haynes, Chris Lefler (Sumita Adhya), Laura Zannis (Nick). She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Corbin, Kailey and Grayson Davis of Charlotte.

Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Sam Lefler.

She will be dearly missed by her family, but they are comforted by knowing that she has joined her husband in heaven and she is in the loving embrace of the Lord.

A service to celebrate Sarah’s life will be conducted on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Providence United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. The internment will be immediately following the service at Sharon Memorial Park.

Memorials may be sent to Providence United Methodist Church, 2810 Provi-dence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.

Harry and Bryant Company is serving the family of Mrs. Lefler.
