Gary 'Gus' A. Beaver

WELCOME - Gary "Gus" Alexander Beaver, 66, of Welcome, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at his home following several years of declining health. Gary spent the last two-and-a-half years at The Meadows Retirement Home in Rockwell.

Born Dec. 3, 1939, in Rockwell, Mr. Beaver was the son of the late Carlee Alexander and Quinn Miller Beaver. He was also preceded in death by brothers Donald and Harold Beaver.

A 1958 graduate of Rockwell High School, Gary worked for over 35 years in management at Roadway Express Trucking Company. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, spending time with friends and family and taking trips to Holden Beach on the North Carolina coast.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Ketchie Beaver; sons Gary Beaver Jr., Michael Beaver, John Beaver and Scott (Cindy Smith) Beaver, all of Lexington; brothers Bobby D. (Becky) Beaver of Rockwell, Alan L. (LaVaughn) Beaver of Granite Quarry; sister Lana B. Moore and husband David of Rockwell; sister-in-law Helen D. Beaver, wife of Gary's late brother, Harold of Statesville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: A service of celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury. 

Visitation: 10-11 a.m. in the church's Fellowship Hall.

Memorials: Hospice & Palliative Care of Davie County or St. Matthews Lutheran Church.

Cremation Services in Winston-Salem handled arrangements.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Meadows Retirement Home for the loving care Gary received during his stay and the quality of life The Meadows helped provide him.
