Gleamer Bladen Arey Rushing
Gleamer Bladen Arey Rushing, 91, of Austin Street, Albemarle, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at her home.
Born Dec. 13, 1917, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie W. Arey and Esther Bolton Arey.
She was married to the late Charles Edward "Edd" Rushing who preceded her in death in 1972.
A son, Melvin, two sisters, and two brothers also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Lionel Rushing and wife, Sylvia, of Badin; two sisters, Crealmer Dry of Albemarle and Mildred Ross of Badin; three grandchildren, Charles Rushing, Tracy Tolone and Lisa Page; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was a retired employee of American and Efird Mill and a former employee of the Stanly News and Press.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday where the body will remain until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the hour of service.Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at the Albemarle Wesleyan Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Douglas Beadle and The Rev. Ronald Thompson will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Albemarle Wesleyan Church or to Hospice of Stanly County.
