MOORESVILLE -- Mrs. Johnston, age 79, of 1052 Davis Street, died Monday, June 28, 2004 at her home. She was born in Iredell County, May 30, 1925, daughter of the late Robert and Julia Lambert Benfield. She was employed at Cascade Mill. Her husband, Grier Johnston, died in 1991 and her son, Allen Johnston died in 1996.
Survivors include her sons, Donnie Johnston and wife Sheila of Appomattox, VA and Luther Johnston and wife Eleanor of Mt. Ulla, NC; daughter, Jewel Sherrill and husband Buddy of Troutman; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister, Patty Pope of Amity Hill, NC; and brothers, James Benfield of Statesville, NC, Harry Benfield of Winston Salem, NC, and Coyt Benfield and Fred Benfield, both of Mooresville.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Neill Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doris Weddington and Rev. Roger Wood in charge. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 at Neill Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County.
