Mr. Herrin was born in Stanly County March 7, 1926, the son of the late William Paul Herrin and Ida Hatley Herrin and moved from Charlotte to Albemarle five years ago. He retired from Photo Corporation of America in Matthews where he supervised the purchasing and scheduling of production and was voted employee of the year for several years. He was a member of Liberty Hill Primitive Bapist Church. He was a caring, loving and compassionate man who loved animals and volunteered caring for homeless shelter pets. He had a passion for music, especially bluegrass and played many string instruments, but the guitar was his favorite.

He loved and enjoyed his family but his greatest love was for his wife of 63 years, Hazeline Poplin Herrin, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Dean Herrin and wife, Dena, of Charlotte; two daughters, Judy Dick Goldberg and husband, Howard of Charlotte and Brenda Smith and husband, Larry, of Locust; eight grandchildren, Collin and Logan Herrin, Harland Dick, Natalie Dick Chepul, Leigh Anne Veazey and Julie Swayngim; and a brother Norman Herrin of Panama City, Fla.

Four brothers, Dewey Herrin, Bill Herrin, Clyde Herrin and Carl Herrin; two sisters Jewel Efird and Betty Tucker, and a son-in-law, Wayne Dick, preceded him in death.

His family would like to thank all the loving people whose care meant so much.

Memorials may be made to Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Jimmy Dunn 200 Holt Rd., Albemarle, NC 28001.
