Marguerite B. Misenheimer

ROCKWELL - Marguerite Barnhardt Misenheimer, 96, passed away on April 24, 2012, at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

Mrs. Misenheimer was born July 22, 1915, the daughter of the late H.W. and Daisy Brown Barnhardt.

A life-long musician, Mrs. Misenheimer attended Rockwell School, graduating in 1932, and Catawba College and was a 1937 graduate of the Women's College of the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. Following college, she taught fourth grade at Enochville School for several years.

After her marriage to Glenn Misenheimer in 1940, she lived in Hickory and Lenoir before returning to Rockwell in 1949 and to her home church, Ursinus Evangelical and Reformed (now Ursinus United Church of Christ) where, among her many activities, she served as Junior Choir Director and substitute organist.

For over 50 years, Mrs. Misenheimer taught piano, first at Rockwell School and then in her home. She also loved the outdoors, grew beautiful flowers and was an avid gardener.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Misenheimer, in 1973, and by her brother, Ray Barnhardt.

She is survived by three sons, Larry G. Misenheimer and wife Susan of Wake Forest, Henry C. Misenheimer and wife Shelia of Albemarle and James A. Misenheimer of Rockwell; granddaughter Crista Misenheimer of Raleigh; grandson Aaron Misenheimer and wife Maegan of Kannapolis; and two beloved great-grandchildren.

The family is deeply grateful to the staff of Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks for their care of Marguerite in the final months of her life.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at Powles Funeral Home, 913 W. Main St., Rockwell.

Service: The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27 at Ursinus United Church of Christ, 116 W. Main Street, Rockwell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations to Ursinus Church, Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 175, Rockwell, NC 28138, are appreciated.
