Sunday, November 15, 2009 — Eva Estelle Smith Hatley, 87, of 20885 Ridgecrest Road, Locust, passed away Nov. 12, 2009, at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, with minister Elder Richard Almond officiating. Burial followed at Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was held an hour prior to the service at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle.
Born in Stanly County on May 11, 1922, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Ellis Monroe Hatley; her mother, Letha Emma Burris Smith; her father, Vander Lee Smith; her sister, Verna Mae Kendall, and an infant sister; and her brother, J.P. Smith.
She was of the Primitive Baptist faith and a graduate of Ridgecrest High School.
Eva Hatley is survived by her son, Richard Allen Hatley of Locust; her sisters, Mary Jewell Hatley of Locust, Mildred Bunting of Albemarle and Marie Smith Paden of Charlotte; and her brothers, Roy L. Smith of Milford, Del. and Harold Smith of Albemarle.
