SALISBURY - Coy Herman Rimer, 91, of 3885 Cauble Road, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Rimer was born Nov. 3, 1916, in Rowan County to the late Addie Styers Rimer and Arthur Rimer. He attended Spencer schools and was a graduate of Spencer High School.

Mr. Rimer was manager of several restaurants in Salisbury, Spencer and Florida and was a self-employed carpenter before retiring. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Shores Rimer, on Feb. 28, 1993; step-son Jerry Anderson; sister Ida Talbert; and grandson Terry Easter.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Brinkley Rummage Rimer; two daughters, Polly Owens of Surfside Beach, Sandra Hache of the home; son Ben Rimer of Mebane; step-daughter Wanda Rainey of Salisbury; stepson Jerry Shoe of New Bern; special caregiver Tony Rimer of the home; grandchildren Curt Rimer, Kathi Majors, Leighann Sharpe, Rodney Easter, Pam Rutherford, Susan Matthews, Diane Young and Jan Whaley; and eight great-grandchildren.

Service: Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Thomas officiating. Mr. Rimer will lie in-state 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Summersett Funeral Home, and at other times, will be at the residence.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Franklin Baptist Church, Family Life Center; or Rowan County Relay for Life.
