MOORESVILLE -- Regina Blackwelder Benfield, age 87, of 224 Blackwelder Farm Road, Mooresville, NC, died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at her home. She was born in Iredell County on April 3, 1920, daughter of the late Joseph F. and Iola Fesperman Blackwelder. She was a spinner at Mooresville Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clayton Benfield in 1998 and a son, Carl Benfield in 1988; also a sister, Ruby Martin and a brother, J. D. Blackwelder.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry B. Long and Jerry of Mooresville, NC; brothers, Frank Blackwelder of Georgia and W. D. Blackwelder of Mooresville, NC; sister, Martha Mills of Georgia; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sherril and Steve, Carla Burdette, Lori Benfield, Donna Lynn Hale, Clayton Benfield and Tess, Robert D. Long and Allison, and Dwayne Long; great-grandchildren, Matthew Sherrill, Christopher Sherrill, Amber Sherrill, Hannah Long, Jessie Long, Chase Benfield, Chad Moreland, Cameron Moreland, Joshua Burdette, and Michael Burdette.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Monday at Faith Presbyterian Church with Rev. Newton Hoover in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Neill Funeral Home.
