Janelle Almond Lowder

ALBEMARLE - Janelle Almond Lowder, age 81, of Albemarle, passed away on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Stanly Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Lowder was born in Stanly County Jan. 19, 1931, to the late Reynolds James Almond and the late Ruth Fink Almond. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Wren Lowder, in 1994.

She is survived by four daughters, Melinda L. Palmer and her husband Bill of Bluffton, S.C., Jo L. Burleson and her husband Chris of Albemarle, W. Gail Lowder of Albemarle and Terry L. Hacker and her husband John of Allentown, Pa.; one brother, D. Gene Almond and his wife, Sue; six grandchildren, Neil Burleson, Tessa Burleson, Beth Palmer, William Palmer, Tyler Hacker and Luke Hacker; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lowder was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to their mother's special caregivers at Bethany Woods and Stanly Regional Medical Center.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Sunday, Aug. 19 from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Service: The funeral service will be in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel at 4 p.m., officiated by Rev. Tom Schneitzlein. Burial will follow at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.

At other times, the family will meet at her home, 309 Imperial Way, Albemarle.

Memorials: May be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, or Hospice of Stanly County.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Lowder family.
