ROCKWELL - Charles Michael Peele, 63, of Rockwell, died Monday (Aug. 8, 2005) at his residence.

Born March 31, 1942, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Peele was a son of the late Norman Walter Peele and Evelyn Medlin Peele. He was educated in the Cabarrus County schools and retired after 25 years of service with Lord Label Inc., where he was a press operator. He was a member of the Lyerly Memorial United Church of Christ, a member of the Forty & Eight, Voiture 115, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam .

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kay Basinger Peele, whom he married Nov. 25, 1985; son Don Michael Peele of Harrisburg; daughter Mrs. Donna Michele Peele Mattison of Sherrills Ford; stepson Michael Terry Peeler Jr. of Salisbury; grandson Hunter Christopher Peele; and granddaughter Hanna Lenora Mattison.

Service : 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Lyerly Memorial United Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. Tom Kruchkow, pastor, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation : The family will receive friends in the church 's Fellowship Hall from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday. The remainder of the time, the family will be at the residence.

Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials : Memorials may be made to Lyerly Memorial United Church of Christ, 1320 Crescent Road, Rockwell, or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Salisbury.
