Dorothy May Kirk McIver Eamich

SALISBURY - Dorothy May Kirk McIver Eamich, age 93, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Mrs. Eamich was born June 7, 1915, in Rowan County. She was the daughter of the late Arnold Burtis Clay (ABC) Kirk, Sr. and Virley Lee Maxwell Kirk.

Mrs. Eamich was educated in the Salisbury City Schools and graduated from Boyden High School in 1932. She worked for the U.S. Government as Civil Service employee in Washington, DC as a secretary until her retirement. She was a member of First United Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Winslow S. "Mac" McIver on January 9, 1954, and second husband, Dr. Richard James Eamick on July 14, 1995, who was chief of Dental Services at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Brothers, A.B.C. Kirk, Jr., Raymond Kirk, John C. Kirk and sisters Mildred K. Shortall, Margaret K. Larabee and Jean Kirk Ramsey also preceded her.

Surviving her are sister, Nina Jo Kirk Scoggins of Lexington and brother, Jerry F. Kirk of Santa Clara, Calif. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at Summersett Funeral Home. The family will be at her home 2514 W. Innes St. at other times.

Service: Funeral services following at 11 a.m. in the Summersett Memorial Chapel. Rev. Michael W. Childress, pastor of First United Church of Christ, Salisbury will officiate.

Burial: Burial will follow at City Memorial Park Cemetery.
