Evelyn Lowder Hartsell

Evelyn Lowder Hartsell, 81, of Jackson Springs died Wednesday (June 7, 2000) at her home.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roseland United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Crouch and the Rev. Tom Williams. Burial followed at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Hartsell was a native of Stanly County, the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Lottie Smith Lowder. She was a charter, lifelong and very active member of Roseland United Methodist Church serving as pianist for many years. She was very active with the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Hartsell was known for her love for cooking and having family and friends eat with them. She was always giving produce from her garden to those who visited with them.

Surviving are her husband of 62 year, Marvin C. Hartsell; a son, Jack Hartsell and wife Beulah of Jackson Springs; daughters, Jane H. Brown and husband Carroll of Charlotte, Faye H. Freeman and husband Lawrence of Marietta, Ga., Carol Deane Joyce and husband Jesse, Judy H. Bost and husband J.E., and Deborah H. Davis and husband Edward, all of Jackson Springs; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
