Luther 'Red' Brown

Mr. Luther Linn "Red" Brown, 95, a resident of Ivy Hill Rest and Retirement Center in Brevard and formerly of S. Cannon Blvd., Kannapolis, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the care facility.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Center Grove Lutheran Church. The Rev. Diane Wales will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Military Honors will be conducted by the US Navy. Following the interment, a meal will be served to the family by the ladies of the church in the fellowship hall at Center Grove Lutheran Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home.

Born May 11, 1911, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late George Brown and Elizabeth Trexler Brown. He retired in 1984 as an overseer at Cannon Mills, Plant No. 10, where he was employed for more than 50 years. He was a member of Center Grove Lutheran Church and a former member of the Royal Oaks Sanitary District. Mr. Brown was a US Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 51. He was Shriner and Mason and was a member of Stokes Masonic Lodge No. 32 in Concord.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Huntley of Concord, Lee Brown of Rockwell, Georgia Fesperman of Badin, Glen Brown of Lenoir, Rose Byers of Asheville, Reed Brown of Virginia, Dukes Brown of Florida and Ray Brown of Rockwell.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Walker Brown of Brevard; a daughter, Katherine B. Therrell and husband, John, of Fletcher; two grandchildren, Christina T. Smith and husband, Brant, of Adams, TN and J. Patrick Therrell and wife, Tasha, of Jackson, TN; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Lynn Smith, Garrett William Smith and Landon Patrick Therrell.

Memorials may be sent to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC.
