Virginia Christine Carter Miller
Virginia Christine Carter Miller, age 90, of New London, formerly known as Old Whitney, passed away May 18, 2008, at Stanly Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends at her home, 44955 Old Whitney Road, New London, on Wednesday, May 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be at Bethel United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 22, at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Nicholas Rochester officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
She was born Nov. 16, 1917, in Orange County, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack T. Miller in 1988, one infant at birth; her parents, William Dennis and Margaret East Carter; a brother, Howard Carter, of Charlotte, a sister Annie Estelle Carter Bingham of Albemarle, and two step-grandchildren of Washington state.
Mrs. Miller worked as a medical secretary and was a homemaker.
Survivors include four children, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one sister as follows: son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Dottie Miller of Oriental, NC; their son Jon Miller of Yucaipa, Calif., and daughter and son-in-law Christy and David Drew of St. Louis, Mo.; son and daughter-in-law Gene and Barbara Miller of Maryville, Tenn., their daughter and son-in-law Susan and Sebastian Eggert of Kaiserslautern, Germany and their children Katarina, Alexander, and Maximilian, and son and daughter-in-law Matt and Andrea Miller of Nashville, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law John and Maryann Miller of Richland, Wash., their children Amy Miller, Mark and Matthew Shelton of Washington; daughter and son-in-law Jenny and Steve Thompson of Atlanta, Ga., their daughter, Carrie, of Valdosta, Ga.: and sister, Louise Carter Rouse of Kannapolis, NC.
Memorials may be made to Stanly County Animal Rescue League, Albemarle, NC.
