Peggy Safrit Agner

Peggy Safrit Agner, 72, Beagle Club Road, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at her home.

Born January 11, 1932, in Rowan County, Mrs. Agner, a daughter of the late Harry Lee and Maebelle Weaver Safrit, was a graduate of China Grove High School.

In 1995, she retired after more than 30 years from Rowan Regional Medical Center, where she was manager of communications. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, the missions and benevolence committees and the Ladies Fellowship. She sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher.

Her husband, Jesse Lee Agner, died Oct. 10, 1996; and a grandson died April 19, 2002.

Survivors include son Joseph Lee Beeker, China Grove; daughters Terri Agner Freeborn, Karen Agner Wood and Charlye Beeker Price, all of Salisbury; brothers Kenneth, Robert, Glenn, Steve, Eddie and Jim Safrit, all of Salisbury, and Tommy Safrit, Delaware; and seven grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Tabernacle Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Sam Gobble, pastor, and the Rev. J. Mark Brown, former pastor. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial, Providence United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Summersett Funeral Home.

Memorials: Tabernacle Baptist Church, Missions Program; or Rowan Regional Home Health and Hospice.
