Mary 'Gilly' Bost

ROCKWELL - Mary Gillon "Gilly" Foil Bost, 94, of Rockwell, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Bost was born Oct. 1, 1918, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Homer and Ada Isenhour Foil. Educated in Rowan County schools, she received her teaching degree from Pfeiffer College and taught Second Grade at Rockwell Elementary School. She retired from the Rockwell Post Office.

She was a lifelong member of Grace Lower Stone Church, was a Sunday School teacher for many years and was heavily involved in the Women's Guild. Mrs. Bost was a member of the Rockwell Chapter of Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron; and was a member of Young At Hearts and TLC Clubs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim L. Bost Sr., who she married on Dec. 2, 1939; brother Ed Foil; sister Allie Bell Bost; and daughter-in-law Linda Whitt Bost.

Survivors include sons Jim Bost Jr. and wife Delanea of Rockwell, Bob Bost and wife Becky of Rockwell and Tom Bost and wife Rochelle of Salisbury; sister Kathryn Earnhardt.

Surviving grandchildren are Mike Bost and wife Lisa; Tammy McNeely and husband Todd; Jennifer Hoesman and husband Mark; Karen Bost; Lindsay Riggs and husband Eric; Anna Ostle; Allison Tart; Brittain Haney and husband Patrick; and Brook Via and husband Mike.

Surviving great-grandchildren are Lauren and Megan Bost, Kaylee and Josie McNeely, Bailey and Whitt Hoesman, Chase and Lawson Riggs, Cameron and Thomas Ostle and Mason Tart.

Visitation: 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lower Stone Church.

Services: Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lower Stone Church conducted by Rev. Spencer Swain, pastor, and Rev. Kevin Gilliam, former pastor, assisting with the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: May be made to Grace Lower Stone Church, 2405 Lower Stone Church Road, Rockwell, NC 28138; or Jim L. Bost and Mary Bost First Family Scholarship at Catawba College, 2300 W. Innes St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
