Tangela Yvonne Furr, 58 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.
Tangela was born April 24, 1958 in Stanly County to the late Riley Clayton Furr and the late Edith Virginia Morton Furr. She attended the special education class at North Albemarle School. She had 42 years of faithful service to Stanly Industrial Services, joining at 16 years of age. Tangela was awarded 20 first, second, and third place ribbons for participation in Special Olympics between the years of 1983 and 1986. She attended Oakboro, Hillstreet and East Albemarle Church of God and presently a member of Sonrise Church in Oakboro.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am - 11:00 am, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Mr. Henry Anderson and Mr. Antwain Hamilton. The burial will be at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 22182 Canton Rd., Albemarle. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home of her sister, Tereda Horton.
She is survived by her sisters, Casinia (David) Eudy, Tereda (Belton) Horton, and Gwendolyn (Richard) Burris, all of Albemarle; uncle, John B. (Julia) Furr; aunt, Pauline Workman; nephews, Clayvon Eudy, Shannon (Tamara) Eudy, Aaron (Lisa) Barbee, Timothy Barbee, Josh (Jodie) Burris, Ben Horton; nieces, Laura (Randy) Hartsell, Sandra (Rodney) Nance, Freda (Tony) Almond; and many grand nephews and nieces.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and clients of Stanly Industrial Services; especially Emma Hill, Mark, Carl, Diane, and Tenika, and also to Rescare staff; Hannah, Nicki and Stephanie. The family would also like to thank Dr. Nalin Mehta and Dr. Sue Mehta, Dr. Isaias E. Melo-Lizardo, Hope Medical Associates, the doctors and staff at Stanly Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care.
