Lola Park Lyerly Ritchie

Lola Park Lyerly Ritchie, 94, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Hospice-Wendover in Shelby.

She was born May 7, 1926, in Rowan County to the late Charles and Rosa Trexler Park. Mrs. Ritchie was a graduate of China Grove High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College. She retired from Morgan Elementary School in 1989 where she served as school secretary. Mrs. Ritchie was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where she was active with the Lutheran Women, taught the Primary Sunday School Class, played piano, and served as financial secretary. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her yard and gardening and in her later years, working word searches.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ritchie was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Quincy Oscar Lyerly; second husband, Carl Hayden Ritchie; sisters, Ruth Eddings and Hope Ridenhour; step-sons, William V. Lyerly, James A. Lyerly, and D. Mark Lyerly; and step-daughter, Peggy Frick.

Mrs. Ritchie is survived by her son, Roger F. Lyerly (Becky) of Salisbury; daughter, Rose Cook (Daryl) of Shelby; sister, Kinard Sheeks of Salisbury; grandchildren, William Coyne, April Coyne, Jordan Lyerly (Mau), and Nick Lyerly; one great-grandson; and nine step-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Salisbury, conducted by Rev. Sean Barrett and Rev. Bruce Sheeks. Mrs. Ritchie will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

A private burial will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
