Johnny Albert Austin, 83 of Salisbury passed away on March 5, 2016 at Genesis Health Care in Salisbury.
Mr. Austin was born in Rowan County on July 18, 1932, son of the late Orin Orestus Austin and Eva Lula Belle Miller Austin.
Mr. Austin was educated in the Rowan County Schools and was a heavy equipment operator for the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Lee Austin, Manuel Eugene Austin, Harlo Frank Austin, Rurnal Richard Austin, and Jeems David Austin and by his sister Betty Lou Austin Starnes and a infant sister Mary Catherine Austin.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife Barbara Latty Austin whom he married June 29, 1985, daughter, Cindy Christie of Albemarle, sisters Lola Burris of New London, Faye Yarbrough and husband Joe of Concord, California and also survived by three Grandchildren; Mason Helmandollar, Jr. Carole Elizabeth Vasquez, and Catherine M. Helmandollar and six Great-grandchildren; Eduardo Morales, Emanuel Morales, Ethan John Morales, Peter D.Vasquez, Marc Helmandollar, and Noel Peacock.
The family will receive friends at Powles Staton Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 9th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The funeral service will be on Thursday, March 10th at Powles Staton Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM conducted by Rev. Ron Loflin, pastor of Uwharrie Community Church, burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
