Opal Waisner Biles

Opal Waisner Biles, age 82 of Albemarle, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Bethany Woods. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1 at 2:00 PM at Congregational Christian Church, with a 30 minute state, officiated by Pastor Donald Ray Johnson. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends at the church, immediately following the burial. At other times, the family will meet at the home of her daughter, Darlene Hudson, 28338 Hatley Farm Road, Albemarle.

Mrs. Biles was born in Stanly County on October 22, 1929 to the late William Thomas Waisner and the late Emma Victoria Elizabeth Daisy Bean Waisner. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Will Hudson on April 22, 2012; two sisters and five brothers.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Mitchell Edward "Mickey" Biles, Sr.; one son, Eddie Biles and his wife Carolyn of Mt. Gilead; one daughter, Darlene Hudson and her husband Roger of Albemarle; grandchildren, Matt Hudson and wife Melanie and their children, Gavin, Cooper and Brody; Jennifer Carter and husband Ashley and their daughter, Ava; Allison Hudson; Suzanne Carter and husband Justin and their children Noah and Bronx; four sisters, Ruby Dick of Albemarle, Pearl Paul of New London, Ruth Floyd of Albemarle and Wilma Hatley of Albemarle.

Mrs. Biles had been employed as a sales clerk for JC Penney and was a proof reader for the Stanly News and Press for many years.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County or Congregational Christian Church.
