SALISBURY - Margaret Rhea Barger Jones, 83, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Born Jan. 31, 1931, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Carrie Park Barger and George Andrew Alexander Barger.
Margaret graduated from Granite Quarry High School [1949] and Salisbury Business College. She was owner/operator of J&M Flower Shop for 60 years and a member of Second Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women's Circle.
Margaret was an avid Tarheel fan. She loved flowers, her church and her family - especially her grandchildren. She also loved her "girls" at the flower shop.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Howell "Bob" Jones; brother Lee Barger; sisters Nellie Sides, Mary Mustard and Frances Hess.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert Andrew "Andy" Jones (Kelly) of Concord, Timothy Park "Tim" Jones (Carol) of Raleigh; daughter Leigh Jones Keener (Jeff) of Charlotte; sisters Ellen Fink of Faith, Georgia Lookabill of Salisbury; grandchildren Andrew Calvin Jones, Hamilton McCoy Jones, Robert Timothy Jones, Timothy Park Jones, Luke Hudson Jones, Margaret "Maggie" Whitley Keener and Graclyn "Gracie" Michael Keener.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Second Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 732 Lincolnton Road, Salisbury, NC 28144.
Service: 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at Second Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Margaret Almeida officiating. Burial follows at Rowan Memorial Park.
