David Hess

David Maxell Hess, 78 of Faith, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.

He was born on September 12, 1937 in Salisbury, son of the late Jay and Ruby Ludwig Hess.

He was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School, Catawba College where he received his BS in Education, and UNC Charlotte with his Masters. David taught for 38 years before retiring. He taught at Winecoff School, Faith Elementary School, Erwin Middle School, East Rowan High School, Knox Middle School and North Middle School.

David was known for making Church Banners and Funeral Palls which are in many local churches.

He was a Lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church, former Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, and Youth Director. David also attended Potter's House fellowship in Faith.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his beloved Wife, Frances Barger Hess and Sister, Marcia K. Hess

Survivors include Son, Micah Hess of Salisbury; Two Daughters, Rhonda W. Alderman and husband David of Salisbury, and Davina H. Stewart and husband Donald of Faith; Three Brothers, Lindsey B. Hess and wife Carolyn of Faith, Terry L. Hess and wife Doris of Faith, and Johnny K. Hess and wife Linda of Rockwell; five grandchildren, Joshua and wife Courtney, Jeremy and wife Jennifer, Thomas, Zachary, and Autumn; four great grandchildren, Ava Rhea, Easton, Griffin, and Sydney.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 4:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Bill Ketchie and Rev. Alan Hess.

Visitation: The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center of Faith Lutheran Church following the service until 6:30 pm.

Memorials may be made to the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
