Ruby Helen Sifferman

Ruby Helen Sifferman, 83, and Paul Eugene Sifferman, 82, of Mt. Vernon, died June 1 as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

Mrs. Sifferman was born April 19, 1925, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Allen and Eula Dale Cantrell Rodgers. She received a teaching degree from Missouri State University in Springfield. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and the Adult Literacy Council.

Mr. Sifferman was born June 13, 1925, in Lawrence County, the son of Lewis Leon and Annie Marie Hicklin Sifferman. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a farmer, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

They were married February 24, 1945, in Lawrence County.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Sifferman and Roger Sifferman, both of Springfield, and Scott Sifferman of Mt. Vernon; four sisters of Ruby Sifferman, Sara Fhur of Farmington, New Mexico, Jewel Huff and Linda Spree, both of Republic, and Doris Hendrix of Aurora; one brother of Ruby Sifferman, Dean Rodgers of Aurora; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Rex, and Troy Rodgers. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lavinia.

Services will be 2 p.m. tomorrow, June 4, at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Tim Burgess officiating. Burial will be in Rock Prairie Cemetery in Halltown under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home of Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 3, at the funeral home.
