SALISBURY - Alfred 'Ray' Cauble, Jr., 63, of Salisbury, died Dec. 9, 2009, at his residence.

Born Oct. 25, 1946, in Rowan County, he was the son of Dorothy Holshouser Cauble of Salisbury, and the late Alfred Ray Cauble, Sr. He was educated in the Rowan County Schools, graduated from East Rowan High School and attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College.

Mr. Cauble worked for Wagoner Construction Company and currently worked for Gardens of Taylor Glenn in Concord with the maintenance department. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he was a former Scout Master for over 15 years, and served as an usher.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Humphrey Cauble, whom he married June 8, 1969; a son, Donald Cauble and his wife Tamela of Kernersville; three sisters, Lillie Timberman, Carolyn Cauble, and Melinda Wells and husband Fran, all of Salisbury; and two grandchildren, Milah and Marisa Cauble.

Visitation: The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 at Summersett Funeral Home.

Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at Salem Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Don Phillips and Rev. Doug Hefner, both of Salem Lutheran Church and the Rev. Rex Wiseley, Minister of First Christian Church, Atlanta, Ga. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Cauble family.
