Edna Mae Owens Stoner

Mrs. Edna Mae Owens Stoner, 73, of Salisbury, NC passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston Salem. Edna was born July 26, 1937 in Rowan County the daughter of the late Harvie Owens and Mary Belle Hodge Owens.

Edna was a 1955 graduate of Rockwell High School and had perfect attendance for twelve years. She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School for 48 years, was very active with the WELCA group, and she was active in all phases of the church. Edna had worked for Leisure Lads in the past and was secretary of Gene Stoner Grading and Hauling.

Edna dearly looked after the people in her community, loved gardening and flowers. She had a great love for her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Owens and a sister, Margaret Owens.

Survivors; husband Gene Stoner, who she married on June 30, 1957, son, Michael Stoner and wife Teresa of Salisbury, daughter, Pam Bullard and husband, Graham of Cornelius, grandchildren, Brooke, Bryson, Hayden, Colin and Kenan, sisters, Teenie Waller and husband Tom, Shirley Griffin and husband Ray, of Salisbury, Linda Ketner and husband, Mike of Sugar Grove, VA.

Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 PM Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell and the remainder of the time the family will be at the home of the son, Michael Stoner.

Funeral Services: 11:00 AM Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Salisbury, conducted by Rev. Gary Coble, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to, St. Matthews Lutheran Church Family Life Center.

We would like to thank Dr. Ronnie Barrier of Salisbury, Dr. Ward Woodard and his nursing staff of Charlotte and Dr. Bayard Powell and his nursing staff of Winston Salem, for their loving care given to our loved one, Mrs. Edna Mae Owens Stoner.
