Mary Ellen Correll

CHINA GROVE - Mary Ellen Eagle Correll, age 83, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at her home after two months of serious illness.

She was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Charles Edward Eagle and Mary Ella Ritchie Eagle.

Ellen was employed in sales for many years having worked for various department stores: Woolworth's, Belk and Rose's until her retirement.

She was a member of Landis Baptist Church, Landis, an active member of WMU, the Lois Rutledge Circle and the Ladies Missionary Sunday School Class. Ellen made various trips with the church throughout the years which she thoroughly enjoyed. She is also remembered for her love of Southern Gospel music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Arnold B. (Nut) Correll, Sr.; four brothers, Tom Eagle, C.E. Eagle, Elbert Eagle and Richard Eagle; and two sisters, Margaret Outen and Louise Eagle.

Survivors include her children, Judy Higgins and husband Jimmie, Susan Morris and husband Ronnie and Marie Cross and husband Eddie, all of China Grove; a son, Arnold B. Correll, Jr. and wife Wanda of Lenoir; two sisters, Della Mae Wright of China Grove and Nancy Roughton of Elizabeth City; a brother, Bobby Eagle and wife Colleen of Kannapolis; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Service and Visitation: The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2 at Landis Baptist Church, Landis, officiated by Rev. Billy Honeycutt. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m.Thursday, Dec. 1 at the church. Her body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service on Friday.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Gentiva Home Health and Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their special care given to our mother during this time.
