Dorothy Louise Leonard Doby
Dorothy Louise Leonard Doby, 97, of China Grove, died at Liberty Commons Nursing Center in Salisbury on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017.
Dorothy was born on July 17, 1920 in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Richard Leonard and the late Mattie Miller Leonard. Mrs. Doby was a lifelong resident of Rowan County. In her working years, she was a winder with Linn Mills for more than 30 years and a member of First Baptist Church in China Grove.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Doby who died in 2005; and two sisters, Othelia Doby and Frances Gwyn. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Miller and Nancy Watkins (Ray “Garren” Watkins); three grandchildren, Jeffrey Watkins, Lorie Miller and Chris Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Megan Livengood and Autumn Miller.
Service & Visitation: The service for Mrs. Doby will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at China Grove First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Steve Wilson. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. before the service at the church.
Memorials: Memorials can be made to her church, China Grove First Baptist Church.
