Ann Queen

Ann S. Queen was born October 20, 1926 and was promoted to heaven on March 17, 2015. Born in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Marshall Grant Shankle and Mary Mabry Shankle, she is the widow of William M. Queen Sr. (Billbo) who preceded her in death. Her first husband preceded her in death as well, Albert E. Hendley III. She was also preceded in death by a sister Inez Clayton, a niece Mary Ethel Clayton, a step grand son William M. Queen III and a grand daughter Lauren Hart Thornburg.

Surviving are Albert E. Hendley IV and wife Claudia, of Inman, South Carolina, Mary H. Thornburg and husband Garry of Sanger, Texas and William E. Hendley Sr. and wife Janet of Rock Hill, South Carolina. Also surviving are step-sons William M. Queen Jr. and Mike Queen of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, a sister Betty Watkins Shankle of Norwood, North Carolina. Also surviving are 8 grand children, Claudette Hendley, Michelle Hendley Johnson, Myra Hendley, Susan Lauren Hendley, William E. Hendley II, Lindsey Thornburg Masterson, Kimberly Thornburg, Ross Thornburg, 3 step grand children and 2 great grand children.

Mrs. Queen was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church and participated in the Women’s Circle. She was an employee of Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for 25 years where she served as secretary of the Maintenance Department and later Medical Records. She was also an employee of J.C. Penney Company.

The service will be held this Friday, March 20th at 3:00 pm in Eggers Chapel in Boiling Springs, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Habitat for Humanity, Spartanburg Regional Hospice House, or El Bethel United Methodist Church.
