Tuesday, March 6, 2007 — Julene Bowers Helms, 68, of 555 Fallwood Drive, Concord, died at 8:43 a.m. Sunday, March 4, 2007, in NorthEast Medical Center.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday with a 30-minute state in New Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Concord, where she was a member. The Rev. Roger Bostic will officiate and burial will be in Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born Dec. 9, 1938, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Julia Vann Lambert Bowers and was a sales associate for Carolina Interiors in Kannapolis.
She is survived by two sons, Jonathan Helms and wife, Judi, of Charlotte and Chris Helms and wife, Beth, of Concord; two sisters, Julia Bowers Whitley and husband, Stan, of Albemarle, and Kay Bowers Ross of Eustis, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Patrick, Hunter, Bailey, Tyler, Maddie and Hagen.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. At other times they will meet at the home.
Memorials may be made to Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Jimmy Dunn, 200 Holt Road, Albemarle, NC.
