Notes for Thelma Jean Hall
Thelma Jean Heglar

MOORESVILLE - Mrs. Thelma Jean Hall Heglar, of Mooresville, slipped away from the bondage of a devastating stroke as her loving family and God's angels gathered around her. She left this life peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday night, April 27, 2012. She was 86 years old.

Mama was the sixth daughter of the late Leverette and Elizabeth Mason Hall, out of seven sisters and four brothers. She had a beautiful voice and sang with several of her other sisters at church gatherings, as her youngest sister Ruby played piano.

She married Fred Heglar after World War II and they lived together on Corriher Grange Road near Mooresville. Later, Susan and Steve came along and enjoyed the sweetest life that a farmer and his wife could ever offer their children. Mama was an excellent cook and helped with church and school activities and meetings and later at the American Legion Auxillary, helping with the "Sock Hops", where Steve's band played. Mama was always the sweetest, most helpful, loving and kindest person anyone would ever want to meet. She loved her Lord, gospel music and was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church for most of her life.

A fatal car accident in Mooresville took our Dad, Fred's life on the morning of Oct. 27, 2001, and Mama was never the same after that. But she remained a dovoted wife, mother, Mamaw, sister, cousin, aunt and friend even after all the problems she had. She especially loved being with her grandchildren, Melissa Smith, Jeremy Sloop and Steve Heglar and great- grandchildren, Makina Toler and Pacey Smith. A loving sister, Elsie Hatley also survived her.

"You will be in our hearts forever until we are once again together, we all love you."

Visitation & Service: The visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Concordia Lutheran Church with funeral at 2 p.m. also at the church, with Rev. Ken Reed, minister. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, China Grove.
