Willis Dee Hatley, 87, of Locust NC passed away Friday November 8, 2013 in Stanly Manor. His funeral service will be 11 AM Monday November 11, 2013 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Rites by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6-8 PM at Stanly Funeral Home.
Born July 30, 1926 in Stanly County, he was the son of the late John Henry Hatley and Nettie Almond Hatley and was a former owner and operator of Hatley’s Grocery in Ridgecrest. He was a member of the Baptist Faith and was a veteran of the US Army in WWII.
He is survived by son Willis Dean Hatley of Locust and daughter Wendy Brattain of Locust as well as 5 grandchildren.
