KANNAPOLIS - Autie Bell Almond, 89, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Big Elm Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Stanly County, the daughter of the late Rufus and Grace Ellen Harwood Almond. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Clinton Almond, on April 25, 1981.
She retired in 1987 from Cannon Mills Co. Plant 1 in the sewing room after 30 years of service. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church, where she had been active in United Methodist Women, Christian Fellowship Club, Sunshine Club and many other church activities. She also enjoyed baking and gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda A. Tilley (Steve) of Kannapolis; two grandsons, Steven Tilley (Elizabeth) and Andrew Tilley; and a great-grandson, Connor Tilley.
Service and Visitation: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at Midway United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Burt Williams. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home.
Memorials: May be made to Midway United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC; and/or Coltrane LIFE Center, Concord, NC.
