Hayden Earnhardt

CHINA GROVE - Mr. Hayden Ervin Earnhardt, 77, of China Grove, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis. 

Mr. Earnhardt was born Dec. 13, 1933, in Rowan County, son of the late Samuel Clark Earnhardt and Edna Louise Wagoner Earnhardt. Mr. Earnhardt was a 1952 graduate of Rockwell High School and attended the University of South Carolina. 

He was the former owner of Earnhardt Lumber Company in Gold Hill. A member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, he attended Trading Ford Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Trexler Earnhardt, whom he married on Dec. 20, 1952. She passed died May 9, 1997. Hayden was also preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Mr. Earnhardt is survived by daughter Traci Morrow and husband David of China Grove; brothers Harold Earnhardt of Rockwell, Bill Earnhardt of Gold Hill, Claude Earnhardt of Spartanburg, S.C.; and grandchildren Nancy Morrow, Rachel Morrow and Samuel Morrow.

Service: The funeral is at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at Trading Ford Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mike Motley, pastor. Mr. Earnhardt will lie in state from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 18 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell.

Memorials: May be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, Kannapolis, NC.
