Mrs. Shirley Steed Ridenhour, 86, of Rockwell died Friday, October 6, 2006, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Ridenhour was born on March 11, 1920 in Denton, NC a daughter of the late Franklin Reid Steed and Ollie Mariah Loftin Steed. Her husband, Fred “Nub” Ridenhour, died February 14, 1975.

Mrs. Ridenhour was a 1937 graduate of Denton High School, had retired in 1983 from the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Salisbury, NC and was working at Gold Hill Log Homes. She was a member of Ursinus United Church of Christ, where she had served as a Deacon, Elder and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Rockwell Senior Citizens Club..

Survivors: Son; Freddie S. Ridenhour and wife, Donna, of Rockwell, granddaughter, Kim File of Gold Hill, NC, two great-grandchildren; Cole File and Sydney Turner of Gold Hill, NC.

Services: Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday at Ursinus United Church of Christ by Rev. Jim Staunton, pastor and Rev. Guy Fisher. Burial will follow at the Ursinus United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation: The family will be at the Powles Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday and will be at the residence the remainder of the time.

Memorials may be made to the Ursinus United Church of Christ Building Fund, Rockwell, NC.
