Martha Cleo Ridenhour Efird

Martha Cleo Ridenhour Efird, 89, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle.

Cleo was born September 24, 1933 in North Carolina to the late John Henry Ridenhour and the late Ella Frances Ridenhour.

She was also preceded in death by husband, Jzener Efird; brothers, Arthur, Clarence, Joe, and Archie Ridenhour; sister, Berniece Winecoff; and grandson, Adam Efird.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Friday, January 20, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow the visitation at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Natalie Whitley. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

Cleo was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church of Mount Pleasant for all of her life.  Cleo enjoyed traveling all over the United States, having visited most, if not all, of the popular attractions, such as the Grand Canyon, Disney World, the Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, and Alaska.  One of Cleo's favorite pastimes was spent tending to her flower garden.  Cleo was a hard worker for all her life.  She enjoyed raising her family and helping others, and now she can rest in the works of her Lord and Savior.

Survivors include daughter, Sheila Kendrick; sons, Jeffrey and Kelvin (Marlene) Efird; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jewell Little and Carolyn Whitley.

Donations may be made to Oak Grove Methodist Church, Mt Pleasant, located at 32056 Herrin Grove Rd, Mt Pleasant, NC.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to her Caregivers from TLC and a special thanks to Sherri.
