Mildred Duree Whitley Huneycutt, 81, of 683 A South Oak Ridge Rd. Oakboro died at 2:54 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Visitation was 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Chruch, Oakboro with 30 minute state. Dr. Rev. Terrell Watts will be officiating and the burial will follow at Oakboro Cemetary.
As a Stanly County native, she was born July 1, 1927. She was retired from Stanly Knitting Mills, Oakboro where she was a sewer. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and she taught Sunday School for 25 years.
She is survived by son, Melvin Huneycutt of Oakboro; daughter, Frances Beatty of Oakboro; sister, Louise Hahn of Shady Side, Ohio. and five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Henry Shelly Huneycutt; father, William Whitley; mother, Mandy (Dunn) Whitley; brother, Earnest Whitley and sisters, Hazel Helms and Martha Jane Pitts.
