News Reaches Mr. Parks Basinger, of Rowan, That His Son, W. E. Basinger, Was Killed in Arkansas Ten Days Ago

Special to The Observer.

Salisbury, Nov. 21 - Postmaster Ramsey has received a message from the postmaster at Darcey, Arkansas, asking him to make a search for relatives of W. E. Basinger, who was murdered at that place ten days ago. The letter declares that its writer is disinterested altogether and that its only purpose is to do justice by the relatives of the deceased. Mr. Basinger was a man of property and the message declared there was danger of his losing it unless friends took it up with the family here. Mr. Ramsey at once started an investigation resulting in the disclosure that Mr. B. Parks Basinger, of Morgan township, is the father of the murdered man, who was about 40 years old and unmarried. The senior Basinger had a letter about a week ago from his son and he had recovered entirely from a pistol shot wound received some months ago. He will at once investigate the murder which is entirely mysterious now and of which he knew nothing until to-day.
