CONCORD - Wilbur Franklin Furr, 92, of 490 Sunnyside Drive S.E., Concord, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Heritage at Town Center. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church, Concord. The Rev. Dr. Kathryn Baines and the Rev. John E. Boyd Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Concord. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. At ot her times the family will be at the home at 490 Sunnyside Drive, Concord.

Born May 28, 1913, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Durant Furr and Lexie Arey Furr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was the retired owner and operator of Western Auto. He was a big supporter of the Cabarrus County Boys & Girls Club and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Concord.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Young Morrison Furr.

He was the last survivor of eight children.

Survivors include his son, W. Frankie Furr and wife, Lani, of Park City, Utah; grandchildren, Mary Pope, Erin, Johnathan, Lynn and Adam; and a number of nieces and nephews.
