Tuesday, December 20, 2011 — Zane Grady Huneycutt, of Albemarle, N.C., died at 12:15 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 in Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast, Concord, N.C.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the hour of the service.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Stony Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. Lanny Lancaster and Rev. Joe Smith will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born April 14, 1935 in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late Houston Leonard Huneycutt and Sena Burris Burris Huneycutt.
He was a retired employee of Montgomery Motors in Troy as a car salesman. He also worked with Confederate Motors and Lum’s Ford. Mr. Huneycutt was a member of North Albemarle Baptist Church and a former member of Army National Guard.
He was married to Phyllis Andrews Michael Huneycutt of the home. Other survivors include one daughter, Joy Denise Castaneda of Concord; three stepsons, Curt Douglas Michael of Albemarle, Jeff Michael of Davidson and Chris Michael of Rochester, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Donna Cranford of New London, and Patty Cline of Jenkintown, Pa.; four brothers, James Leonard Huneycutt of Concord, Rickie Lane Huneycutt of Albemarle, Dannie Burris of Albemarle and J.C. Burris of Oakboro; four sisters, Jeanette Russell of Denton, Lottie Bowers of Richfield, Judy Hatley of Locust and Jacklyn Jones of Salisbury; one granddaughter, Samantha Joy Poplin; 11 stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
