Ruth Barringer Morgan

CONCORD Mrs. Ruth Barringer Morgan, of Highland Ave., passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at Transitional Health Care. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Merrill Perkins. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the funeral home. 

Ruth was born Feb. 11, 1918, in Gold Hill, to the late William Barringer and Dora Frick Barringer Culp. She was the wife of Irvin Morgan, who died Dec. 31, 1993. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Maye Barringer Ennis. 

Ruth finished high school in Mt. Pleasant in 1938, and retired from Cannon Mills in 1980 after 32 years of service at Plant #1 in the sheet department. As a member of Ann Street United Methodist Church, she belonged to the Gleaners circle, served as secretary of the B & S Sunday school for many years, and served on the bereavement committee. 

She is survived by sisters, Jennie Barringer Hall and Mildred Barringer Isenhour, both of Gold Hill; half-sisters, Irene Culp Troutman of Richfield and Christine Culp Ridenhour of New London; a number of nieces and nephews, including Larry Morgan; and special friends, Carol Howard and Carolyn Benton. 

Memorials may be made to her church, Ann Street UMC, Concord, NC. 

Wilkinson Funeral Home is in charge of services.
