John Charles Klopfer, 73, of Gorin, Missouri died August 24, 2005 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.

He was born February 4, 1932 to Carl William and Dorothy Mae Kiefer Klopfer.

He was a graduate of Gorin High School, attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri and was also enrolled in school for mechanics.

He married Neva Ann Leeper on June 1, 1952 in Luray, Missouri. She passed away November 18, 1999.

He owned and operated a general repair garage in Gorin until his retirement.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Gorin and Rutledge and affiliated with and served as a deacon for the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gorin.

He is survived by one son, Danny Klopfer and his wife, Jane, of Urbandale, Iowa and a daughter, Debbie Fischer and her husband, James, of Festus, Missouri. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Jody Harvey of Florissant, Missouri; Michelle Klopfer Krall and her husband, Jeremy, of Springfield, Illinois; Matthew Klopfer and his wife, Keeley, of Dallas, Texas; Marla Klopfer of Urbandale, Iowa; Eric Harvey of Kahoka, Missouri; Andrea Harvey of Kahoka, Missouri and a great-granddaughter, Jadyn Krall. Other survivors include a special cousin, JoAnn Augspurger, of Bloomfield, Iowa and an aunt, Lola Kiefer of Memphis, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Funeral services were held August 27, 2005 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gorin, Missouri, with the Reverend Ernest Deatrick and Leland Oliver officiating. Music was provided by Terry Sommers, organist; Marsha Davis, pianist and Michelle and Jeremy Krall, vocalists. Scripture was read by Matthew and Keeley Klopfer.

Burial was in the Gorin Cemetery, Gorin, Missouri. Casket bearers were Mark Glasscock, Ronnie Boyer, Jakie Peterson, Edwin Herr, Mike Nichols, Kenny McNamar and Bob Kiefer. Honorary casket bearers were Jody Harvey, Michelle Klopfer Krall, Matthew Klopfer, Marla Klopfer, Eric Harvey and Andrea Harvey.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Memphis Funeral Home.
