GOLD HILL - Mrs. Betty Lou Trexler Leonard, 72, of Gold Hill, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Betty was born Jan. 3, 1939, in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Earl Banks Trexler and Thelma Glover Trexler.

Betty was a 1957 graduate of Rockwell High School, a member of Gold Hill United Methodist Church, the Liberty Sunshiners, Happy Knitters and a former member of the Liberty Home Extension Club.

She loved gardening, crocheting, fishing and being with her family. She had retired from PPG in Lexington as a supervisor.

Betty dearly loved her two dogs, Mojo and Bubba.

Survivors include husband Norman Gene "Frosty" Leonard, who she married on April 11, 1959; brothers James "Gabby" Trexler of Rockwell, Eddie "Redbone" Trexler of Gold Hill and Larry Trexler of Rockwell; sisters Marjorie Safrit of Rockwell and Wanda Ann Sherman of Florida.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov 21 at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell and the residence the remainder of the time.

Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Anthony Moore, pastor of Gold Hill United Methodist Church, and Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gold Hill United Methodist Church.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the the Leonard family.
